The Chairman of Isolo Local Council Development Area, Lagos, Adebayo Olasoju, has given N1,500,000 to six staff for their exemplary performance.
Olasoju disclosed this while speaking during the monthly Birthday celebration and prayer session organised by the management at the council secretariat.
He also announced a N10,000 bonus for each of the council workers as a palliative to mitigate the effect of the removal of fuel subsidy.
The Council Chairman explained that the bonus and reward are another way to show his administration’s commitment to improving workers’ welfare, adding that to whom much is given much is expected.
He explained the gesture was in acknowledgement of the selected staff’s punctuality and commitment to work.
Olasoju said, “We are, indeed, in a difficult time but I strongly believe that there is light at the end of the tunnel. As Mr President has said, ‘after darkness comes the glorious dawn’. In addition to the palliative the federal and state governments have rolled out, we are complementing their efforts with an additional N10,000 bonus to support your transport to and fro work because we know that some of you come from far places. We will also be rewarding six outstanding staff whose dedication I’ve been observing for some time. There are those who have, as well, been doing wonderfully well in terms of punctuality, work ethics and conduct but these six have been selected for recognition and also to serve as encouragement to others. They will be given N250,000 each.”
The announcements incited thunderous cheers from the council staff as they all couldn’t contain their excitement.
Olasoju explained how beautiful the council premises will be upon the completion of the ongoing rehabilitation projects, adding that more conducive offices will be available to the staff to enhance their optimal performance.
Olasoju promised the workforce many empowerment programs especially bursary awards for indigent students in the council area adding that consideration will be given to children of low-ranking staff of the council who are in higher institutions.
The Chairman expressed gratitude to the staff for their cooperation, calling on them to continue protecting the sanctity of the civil service and promote the ethical standard.
