Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has extended the work-from-home policy for state employees by an additional three months, according to an announcement made on Wednesday.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the extension, which took effect on September 4, was communicated through a circular signed by the state Head of Service, Bode Agoro.
Initially implemented on February 28, the policy allows workers on grade levels 01 to 14 to work remotely for two days a week, while those on grade levels 15 to 17 are permitted to work from home one day a week.
The initiative was introduced to alleviate the impact of the fuel subsidy removal on civil servants.
Governor Sanwo-Olu noted that the policy has been beneficial, saying, “We have observed a significant improvement in the productivity of our workers across various ministries, departments, and agencies.”
The governor’s decision to extend the policy follows positive feedback regarding its effectiveness in maintaining productivity despite the challenges posed by the current economic situation.
