A Lagos Doctor, Oyeyinka Oyetunde has been arraigned before an Ikeja Special Offences Court for alleged manslaughter of one of his patients.
According to The PUNCH, it was obtained from the prosecutor’s counsel, Tobi Esan that the defendant committed the crime on June 16, 2020, at 1 Ajibade Oke Street, Isolo, Ikeja, Lagos.
She claimed the patient, who she only knew as Uchenna, was neglected by the doctor.
Prosecutors claim that this crime violates Section 229 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.
When arraigned on a single allegation of involuntary manslaughter, the defendant entered a not guilty plea.
The defence counsel, Abayomi Omotunbora, in his application for bail, urged the court to allow his client to continue the administrative bail granted by Chief Magistrate G.O. Abayomi, of an Ebute Metta Magistrate’s Court.
Justice Olubunmi Abike-Fadipe granted the request, noting that the defendant was not a flight risk going by his antecedents.
The court has granted him bail with the stipulation that he must produce the necessary proof by next Tuesday at the latest.
The case was adjourned till December 19, 2022.
