The Lagos State Government has begun the demolition of all illegal structures and shanties around the Jakande Estate and Maiyegun in the Lekki area of the state.
State Commissioner for the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed this in a statement on his official X handle on Monday.
The Commissioner shared a video clip on social media from the site where a structure is being pulled down.
While captioning the video, Wahab wrote, “Lagos State Government this morning began the removal of all illegal structures and shanties built around Jakande Estate and Maiyegun, Lekki.
“This enforcement is geared towards reclaiming the coastal road alignment for the Lagos – Calabar Highway project of the Federal Government, and the urban regeneration of the area.”
