At least six men have been remanded by a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos State on Monday for allegedly stealing cosmetics valued at N900m.
According to The PUNCH, the Tincan Island Police Command, Apapa, Lagos State, filed three counts of conspiracy, theft, and receiving stolen property against the defendants Akinmade Oluwaseyi, Michael Okwu, Emmanuel Igbru, Michael Peter, Bright Ogungbeje, and Kingsley Onobrakpeya.
They were remanded after entering a not-guilty plea to the allegations before Justice Abimbola Awogboro.
The offences were allegedly perpetrated between June 19 and June 21, 2022, at Tincan Island Container Terminal, Nigerian Ports Authority, Tincan Island Port, Apapa, Lagos, according to the prosecutor, Mr. A. J. Dagbo.
He claimed that they formed a plan and took nine containers that contained valuable cosmetics including body lotion, vaseline, face soap, and other products.
The prosecutor specifically charged Ogungbeje and Onobrakpeya with obtaining the nine stolen containers containing the cosmetics from Peter on June 22, 2022, and transporting them to an unidentified location using a tugboat named the MV Aquilla.
The defendants, on the other hand, rejected the charges.
