A 38-year-old Samuel Emmanuel, has been remanded at the Kirikiri correctional centre, by an Ikeja High Court, for allegedly having anal sex with a minor.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the presiding judge, Chief Magistrate B.O Osunsanmi, ordered his remand in Kirikiri Correctional Centre until January 25, for the director of public prosecution’s advice.
The defendant, a baker from the Ileejo neighbourhood of Lekki, Lagos, is on trial for sexual assault.
The prosecutor ASP Raji Akeem, told the court that the crime was perpetrated on November 25 in the Ile-Ojo area of Ibeju, Lekki, Lagos.
Mr Akeem claimed that the defendant called the victim, a 12-year-old girl who sells cow skin, pretending to be interested in purchasing.
According to the prosecutor, the defendant brought the girl into his room and forced anal intercourse on her.
Mr Akeem stated that when the girl’s screams were heard, neighbors rushed to break down the door and rescue her, but she had already been assaulted.
According to the prosecution, the offense violates Section 261 of the Lagos State Criminal Law of 2015.
