Wonderland’s children’s area in Energy City on Ahmadu Bello Way in Victoria Island, Lagos, has been ordered closed and suspended by the Lagos State Government.
Wonderland is a place for events designed to provide a joyful and exciting holiday experience.
The facility was closed on Monday, December 26th, 2022, after a guest was electrocuted at the event venue.
In a joint inspection with the Lagos State Task Force team, the director general of the Lagos State Safety Commission, Lanre Mojola, stated that the intervention has become essential to stop further exposure of visitors, especially children, at the location to avoid accidents that could result in harm and deaths.
He said that it had become urgent and necessary to close the building until all violations were addressed in order to protect users, particularly youngsters, from further harm and to guarantee the safety of other events scheduled for Lagos residents.
The Director General declared that no person or organization was bigger than the State and that it would constantly assure Lagosians’ safety while they celebrated the holiday season.
Mojola issued a warning to Lagos facility operators who are not abiding by the State’s Safety regulations for events and asked locals to socialize appropriately.
