The Lagos State Police Command on Monday arraigned a 29-year-old cashier, Olasumbo Sammie, for allegedly running away with proceeds of shaving sticks and blades worth N1.8m belonging to her employer.
According to The PUNCH, Sammie, a cashier in 2022, was accused of selling the shaving sticks and blades but failing to give her boss the money.
The defendant was charged by the police with two charges of theft before a magistrates’ court in Yaba, Lagos State.
The acts, according to the prosecutor Thomas Nurudeen, were against Section 280 and were punishable by Sections 411 and 287(7) of the Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015 Criminal Laws.
The charge read, “That Olasumbo Sammie from February 1, 2022, till February 2023 at No 74 Docemo Street, Idumota Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District did commit felony to wit: stealing and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015.”
Sammie was granted bail in the amount of N500,000 with two sureties in the same amount by Magistrate P. E. Nwaka.
The case was postponed by Nwaka until July 5, 2023.
