The death toll from the three-story building which collapsed in the Ebute Metta area of the state late Sunday has risen to eight.
According to an update from the Lagos State Emergency Agency, three more bodies have been recovered from the scene of the incident on Monday morning.
The figure from the LASEMA group as of 7:33am revealed that those rescued alive include 22 males, and one female while those recovered dead consist of five males and three females.
At least 23 residents have been rescued so far, thanks to the efforts of NEMA, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, and Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services, among others.
Meanwhile, the acting coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency, Ibrahim Farinloye, revealed that the agency has discovered another building show signs of distress around the area.
He said, “Another three-storey building, on Lagos Street, about 200 metres away from the current scene has shown signs of distress with part throwing pebbles and falling off.
“The building had also been marked as distressed but the occupants were deviant.
