Lagos State Government, in conjunction with Lagos State Assurance Company Limited and Consortium of Underwriters/Brokers, has paid N538.9 million as insurance death benefits to 250 beneficiaries.
According to The Nation, the payment was for 102 civil servants, who had died active in service to the Lagos state government.
During the cheque presentation to 250 beneficiaries on Monday, the Head of Service, Hakeem Muri-Okunola, said payment of Insurance Death Benefits cheques to relatives of deceased members of staff showed that the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration prioritised worker’s welfare.
Muri-Okunola, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Olasunkanmi Oyegbola, added, “We are paying these insurance death benefits to relatives of deceased staff to serve as a succour, help keep the children in school and so they can have a roof over their heads.”
