Spanish football league, La Liga, has reportedly denied claims by Barcelona that it had once again rejected their appeal against a prior rejection to register Dani Olmo
The Catalan giants had initially managed to register Olmo by exploiting a loophole after Andreas Christensen suffered an injury.
However, his current registration, along with that of rising forward Pau Victor, is set to lapse on December 31.
Central to the issue are Barcelona’s ongoing financial challenges, which have left the club unable to generate enough revenue to meet La Liga’s stringent financial regulations.
Last week, a court rejected their request for an exception, siding with La Liga’s stance.
Olmo’s contract is said to contain a provision allowing him to leave for free if registration cannot be secured, a situation that has reportedly attracted interest from several Premier League sides.
Numerous reports now confirm that Barcelona’s appeal has failed, with the court upholding the initial decision.
In response, Barcelona appears to have a contingency plan. The club has reportedly struck a €120 million agreement for the long-term sale of VIP seats at Camp Nou over the next two decades, pending final approval.
