Some Nigerians on Twitter have vented their frustrations on the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), following the terror attack on Kuje prison, Abuja, on Tuesday night.
Buhari who visited the prison on Wednesday after Tuesday’s attack questioned the nation’s intelligence system in a tweet on his verified Twitter account, leaving tweeps displeased.
“Saddened by the attack on the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kuje. I am disappointed with the intelligence system. How can terrorists organize, have weapons, attack a security installation and get away with it? I am expecting a comprehensive report on this shocking incident,” Buhari tweeted.
His comments attracted criticism from Dípò Awójídé who said, “Look at the disgraceful and embarrassing replies to your tweet. Tells you exactly how a lot of citizens feel about your administration per how you have handled the security of the country. It has been shambolic. You swore to be different but Nigerians have seen shege.”
Another, Ikenna Onyebuchi said, “It is so weird that the c-in-c is asking this question on Twitter. I hope the security agencies will also reply on Twitter so we can follow their gbas gbos.”
Investigative journalist, Fisayo Soyombo, added, “I’m quite worried that PMB visited Kuje Prison yesterday evening, after the previous night’s jailbreak. The Buhari I know will not visit the site of the killing of innocent Nigerians. Showing up for prisoners (or maybe terrorists) has to be concerning. Something is off.”
Alarmed Morris Monye said, “Nigerians really wasted eight years of their lives. The commander in Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces (Land, Air and sea) asking us on Twitter how attack take happen. Eight full years wasted.”
Cedric Dakoru tweeted, “You should be disappointed in yourself as the C-in-C first. You’ve failed this country and you’re the worst president ever.”
Former Kano governor aide, Salihu Tanko Yakasai said, “It took you years to move from being shocked to being disappointed, this attack and that of your convoy is a sign that we are in deep trouble and at this point, it’s safe to say you are the worst commander in chief in the history of this country. Mr President, do your job please.”
