The wife and two daughters of Kogi-based journalist Muhammed Bashir were among ten members of the same family kidnapped on Thursday in Kaduna State.
According to The PUNCH, Bashir, a correspondent for the Nigeria Telegraph, confirmed the abduction in a brief statement on Friday from Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.
His family had traveled to Kaduna earlier that day for a holiday with relatives when they were seized by unknown gunmen.
In his statement, Bashir requested prayers from his colleagues, stating, “My two daughters and their mother, along with eight others, were kidnapped yesterday by unidentified gunmen in Kaduna. Please pray for me.”
Bashir also mentioned that he had reported the incident to the police and the Department of State Services, who assured him that efforts are underway to rescue the victims and apprehend the kidnappers.
