The Kebbi State government has issued an appeal to the residents of Birnin Kebbi and its surrounding areas, urging them to remain patient as the power outage stemming from the recent fire incident at the Transmission Company of Nigeria has persisted for 11 days.
According to Daily Trust, during a visit to the TCN substation, Alhaji Yakubu Bala-Tafida, the Secretary to the State Government, emphasized the necessity of this call in light of the ongoing power shortage affecting the region.
The fire incident at TCN resulted in the destruction of two transformers, specifically the 90MVA (330KV/132KV) and 60MVA (132KV/33KV) units.
Alhaji Bala-Tafida, on the directive of the governor, personally monitored the repair work at the TCN facility to ensure that the residents do not continue to suffer from a lack of electricity.
He expressed contentment with the progress made by the engineering team and reported that the engineers have been given a two-week timeline by their headquarters in Abuja to fully restore power.
“We came to see the level of efforts being put in to fix the burnt power station. We are satisfied. All we need from our people is prayers for them to do a good job and complete it within the stipulated period,” he added.
