Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, has reaffirmed his commitment to tackling human trafficking, sexual and gender-based violence, and other forms of violence in the state.
According to The PUNCH, Governor Radda highlighted the urgent need for stronger measures to curb the rising incidents of violence, particularly against women and children.
“We must adopt more robust measures to free Katsina State from all forms of violence and child abuse,” Radda stated during the meeting, which was led by Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Fadila Dikko.
Governor Radda praised the task force for its efforts in rehabilitating victims and addressing the harmful effects of child abuse and trafficking.
He also assured the committee of his administration’s full support, emphasizing that necessary resources would be provided to help the task force achieve its objectives. “My administration is determined to provide all necessary resources for the task force to fulfil its mandate effectively,” he said.
During the meeting, Commissioner Fadila Dikko highlighted the task force’s achievements, including providing medical outreach services, distributing school bags to 80 trafficking victims, conducting skills training for 30 survivors, and offering psychological support.
She also underscored the importance of public awareness campaigns, noting the task force’s engagement through radio programs. However, Dikko pointed out that insufficient funding remains a significant obstacle to expanding their operations.
In a related event, Governor Radda, during a ceremony marking the 37th anniversary of the state’s creation in September, reiterated his administration’s focus on infrastructure development, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
The governor expressed his vision to elevate Katsina State through continued investment in critical sectors, stating, “We are ready to take Katsina to greater heights by supporting entrepreneurship and innovation.”
