A five-year-old boy, Abdulmalik Junaidu, is reportedly struck dead in Nasarawa Yanlemu community in Bakori LGA of Katsina State.
The incident which occurred on Monday at about 7 pm claimed the life of the victim who was on his way back from the mosque.
According to a report by Daily Post, the father of the deceased, Malam Junaidu Gide recounted how his son was struck down by thunder.
He said, “When I closed from work at the motor park after Maghrib prayers, it was raining.
“As the rain subsided, I went home and asked for the children. The mother told me that they went to the mosque.
“A few minutes later, Abdulmajid, the elder brother of the deceased, came home horrified, saying that something heavy hit them on their way home and that his brother was there lying down on the road.
When we got to him, I took him to the Funtua General Hospital where he was confirmed dead.”
He added that the body was burnt from the chest downwards, saying that because of night and the rain, they buried Abdulmalik last Tuesday morning according to Islamic rites.
He explained that Funtua experienced terrible thunderstorms on Monday and people were not surprised to hear the terrible news about his son dying.
