The Kano State Hisbah Board has confirmed the arrest of Jigawa State Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwal Danladi Sankara, for allegedly engaging in an affair with a married woman.
The arrest took place in an uncompleted building, reportedly owned by the commissioner, following complaints from the woman’s husband, Nasiru Bulama.
The Hisbah Board’s Director General, Dr. Abba Sufi, revealed that Sankara had been under surveillance after multiple reports accused him of engaging in inappropriate activities with the woman, identified as Tasleem Baba Nabegu, the mother of two children.
“We have arrested Auwal Danladi Sankara, the Jigawa Commissioner, with a married woman in an uncompleted building that belongs to him,” Dr. Sufi stated.
“This arrest was made possible through tracking after receiving complaints from the woman’s husband’s younger brother.”
Nasiru Bulama, the woman’s husband, had earlier filed complaints with the Kano State Police Command, the Department of State Services, and the Hisbah Board, accusing the commissioner of engaging in an illicit relationship with his wife.
According to Dr. Sufi, Sankara is also facing charges related to the operation of illicit drug centers under the names Picklock and 360, which are allegedly involved in prostitution and drug activities.
“We have had ongoing issues with Sankara due to his involvement in operating illicit drug centers disguised as hotels,” he added.
Sankara is expected to appear in court on Monday to face these charges.
