Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has reiterated his administration’s dedication to improving the welfare of civil servants, following the submission of a report by the state’s advisory committee on the new minimum wage.
The report was presented by the committee, chaired by Usman Bala, the governor’s Special Adviser on State Affairs.
According to The PUNCH, the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin Tofa, Yusuf expressed his confidence in the committee’s thorough approach to its assignment, which included extensive research and consultations across relevant sectors.
“We are confident in the committee’s capacity to provide practical and innovative solutions that will enable us to move forward,” Yusuf said.
He assured that the recommendations would be instrumental in shaping policies that are both financially sustainable and beneficial to the state’s civil servants.
Governor Yusuf also urged civil servants to remain patient as his administration carefully reviews the committee’s findings, adding that any decisions will comply with constitutional guidelines.
“We are committed to fulfilling the promises made during the campaign, especially regarding the welfare of civil servants,” he emphasized.
The committee’s chairman, Usman Bala, noted that the recommendations were developed with close attention to the current economic realities in Kano.
He expressed optimism that the proposed wage structure would ensure financial stability for civil servants while being sustainable for the state in the long term.
The governor assured that the final decision on the new minimum wage structure will be announced next week.
