Concurrently, the administration reaffirmed its dedication to reviewing all donor-funded projects to guarantee seamless implementation, transparency, and accountability.
The State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, during the Stakeholder Dialogue Meeting on Effective Implementation of International Development Funds in Kano, assured attendees of the government’s commitment.
The meeting, themed ‘Ensuring Value for Money Towards Achieving International Funded Projects Deliverables in Kano’, aimed to strengthen mutual trust among the government, stakeholders, and development partners on impactful projects.
Represented by his Chief of Staff, Alhaji Shehu Sagagi, Governor Yusuf underscored the public trust linked to donor agency loans, pledging that his administration would ensure the judicious use of funds and the successful execution of projects.
He urged donor agencies to report any attempts at compromise or breaches in project implementation.
The governor highlighted the administration’s readiness to promptly address any identified anomalies.
The convener of the event and Accountant General of Kano State, Abddulkadir Abdulsalam, emphasized the administration’s commitment to the timely release of counterpart resources for projects aimed at enhancing social and human development in the state.
He noted that the gathering was intended to foster collaboration among stakeholders and implementing partners to ensure full utilization and effective execution of international development funds, achieving project goals within the specified timeframe, cost, and scope.
“We came to learn that the international development funds, which we call capital receipt in our yearly budgets constitute about 30 per cent of our yearly budgets. And some of these funds are not grants, most of them are loans to the state taken by the previous administration. So that is why we ensure value for money and effective utilization and implementation of these projects within the project triangles of cost, scope and time,” he said.
