The Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced an extension for the 2025 fixed Hajj fare registration deadline.
Intending pilgrims now have until Tuesday, February 11, 2025, to complete their registration.
The PUNCH reported that the board’s Director-General, Alhaji Ahmad Labbo, disclosed the extension during a press briefing on Tuesday evening.
He explained that the decision was aimed at giving more time for intending pilgrims to finalize their registration process.
“The board has already deposited the required advance fee with the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria as part of its early preparation for the Hajj exercise,” Labbo revealed.
This year, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria allocated 1,809 Hajj slots to Jigawa State. To meet NAHCON’s requirements, the board secured a loan of over N3 billion from the Jigawa State Government to facilitate the necessary deposits.
“To meet the NAHCON deadline, the board secured a loan of over N3 billion from the Jigawa State Government. This fund will be used to make the necessary deposits with NAHCON,” Alhaji Labbo stated.
He urged intending pilgrims to seize the opportunity provided by the extension to complete their registration. Labbo assured the public that the board is fully committed to ensuring a smooth and successful Hajj experience for all pilgrims.
The Director-General commended the Jigawa State Government for its unwavering support and praised the provision of funds to ease preparations for the pilgrimage.
Highlighting the importance of early preparation, Labbo emphasized how it has helped the board avoid last-minute pressures and the usual complications associated with delayed planning.
He attributed the board’s successes to its dedication to transparency, accountability, and operational efficiency.
According to Labbo, several innovations have been introduced to enhance the experience of Jigawa pilgrims, including better accommodation near the Haramain in Saudi Arabia, improved transportation, and access to medical services.
Labbo also called on all stakeholders and intending pilgrims to cooperate with the board to ensure the success of the 2025 Hajj exercise.
He reassured pilgrims of the board’s commitment to providing top-notch services throughout the pilgrimage.
