The Commander of the Islamic State of West African Province , Abu Muhammed has reportedly killed his deputy, Abu Darda, over his failure to prevent a military attack in one of its hideouts in Dikwa Local Government Area of Borno State.
According to The Vanguard, men of the Nigerian Army from Operation Hadin Kai, working with the Civilian Joint Task Force, stormed the stronghold in an intelligence-led operation that killed 41 fighters, including a commander named Abu Zahra.
The Commander was said to have murdered his deputy in front of other fighters at Kajeri Dogumba village in Borno State’s Mafa Local Government District.
Counter-insurgency specialist Makama Zagazola, on Monday said that Muhammad blamed Darda for spearheading the offensive that resulted in their defeat and the capture of their weapon trucks by the military.
Muhammed further said that the soldiers ruined the food supply and the wedding furnishings they had recently purchased.
The Commander has pledged to avenge the deaths of his troops, and he is rumored to be gathering his forces at Kajeri Dogumba, Bula Yagana Aliye in Mafa LGA of the state.
