Following its promise to get Nigeria secured from any form of banditry and insurgency activities, the Nigerian Army on Friday restated that no form of negotiation will be allowed between the bandits and Army.
This was disclosed by the General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Nigerian Army Sokoto, Major General Godwin Mukut.
Mukut who stated this while addressing newsmen in Gusau, Zamfara State Capital on Friday, July 14, 2023, promised to get bandits eliminated, rather than negotiating with them.
The Army boss who warned bandits and terrorists to surrender unconditionally, said nobody negotiated with them to start their activities, said they will be seriously dealt with.
“Nobody negotiated with them before they entered the bush; now that the fire is hitting them, they want to negotiate. Well, I won’t call it negotiation, they should just come out and surrender.
Negotiation is a trap, they have done it in the past and it did not yield any result, so why are they still repeating the same mistakes?
“The military will not negotiate with the bandits but will rather go after them in their hideouts to eliminate them, if they want to survive, they should just surrender,” he noted.
He added that “the bandits are now hitting soft targets, especially innocent citizens in villages or highways.”
