In the Mumbai airport in India, two Nigerian nationals have been detained for carrying 167 cocaine capsules in their stomachs.
According to The Punch, officials from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence reportedly told Indian TV on Tuesday that the two passengers were detained by police after they arrived at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International airport on Friday from Lagos through Addis Abeba.
The DRI officials summoned them to court and ordered that they be tested by a doctor because they may have hidden drugs in their bodies.
A medical test confirmed that they were found to be hiding cocaine in their stomachs and they purged 167 capsules over a span of 3 days.
The two were detained under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, and a judge placed them in judicial custody. According to the DRI official, the capsules contained a total of 2.97 kg of cocaine valued at Rs 29.76 crore.
