The Nigerian Immigration Service is set to inaugurate a Passport Front Office in the Igbogbo-Baiyeku Local Council Development Area of Ikorodu, Lagos State, today (Friday).
The establishment of the Igbogbo Passport Office aims to alleviate congestion at the Ikoyi Passport Office and significantly reduce the waiting period for passport applications.
According to The PUNCH, the Deputy Comptroller Muyiwa Odunubi, the Passport Control Officer of the Nigerian Immigration Service at the Igbogbo Passport Office in Ikorodu, disclosed that the new passport front office, scheduled for unveiling around 12:30 pm, is located on Owolabi Sodara Street, along Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way, Igbogbo.
Odunubi further mentioned that the facility has the capacity to accommodate up to 200 applicants. Initially functioning as a front office, it will later transition into full-scale production operations at a later date.
“We have a sitting capacity of about 200 applicants at once. It is a front office as of now. Applicants will do their capturing at the facility and the production will be done at the Ikoyi Passport Office for now,” the PCO said.
Odunubi indicated that the complete operations at the facility would kick off on Monday, December 4, 2023. He also mentioned that the newly established passport office currently employs 30 staff members.
He said, “We have more than 30 staff for now. We will bring more as time goes on, depending on where we may have lapses.”
