Nigerian singer popularly known as Ayra Starr, has slammed Headies Awards organizers for their “nonchalant” attitude towards female musicians.
At the 16th edition of the Headies, which took place on Sunday, Starr won the Best Female Artiste category after defeating industry heavyweights including Tiwa Savage, Simi, and Tems.
Unfortunately, the event’s emcee, Osas Ighodaro, abruptly proclaimed the event’s conclusion, thus the organisers were unable to deliver awards in 13 categories, including Starr’s.
Best East African Artiste of the Year, Best R&B Single, Best Vocal Performance (Female), Best Recording of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, and Best Female Artiste were among the categories.
The ’19 and Dangerous’ artiste took to X, formerly known as Twitter on Monday, where she said, “I will never be grateful for winning a category that wasn’t even deemed fit to be announced on stage!”
