An Ijaw group, under the auspices of the Ijaw National Congress Worldwide, has called on the political gladiators in Rivers State to tread with caution in the interest of the people and development of the state.
According to The PUNCH, this was contained in a statement issued by the President of the group, Prof Benjamin Okaba.
In the statement, the association which commended the people of Rivers State for standing against the purported planned impeachment of Fubara, urged Wike not to disrupt the current administration in the state
The INC specifically called on the immediate former governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike and Siminalayi Fubara to make peace with one another, urging the two political gladiators to give priority to the welfare of the people of the state, and not fight to maintain their political base.
The Ijaw group expressed displeasure on the political crisis in the state, particularly between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, saying it would always stand on the side of truth and good governance.
“We specifically appeal to Chief Nyesom Wike, to retrace his steps from stoking division of any sort against the government of the day under the guise of protecting his ‘structure’. The political structure to which he refers should not be rolled up with the structure of the government of Governor Fubara as one entity under anyone’s thumb.
“On our part, the Ijaw National Congress worldwide, at all levels and organs across Ijawland and the diaspora should be alive to the sacred responsibility of watching over and protecting the interests of our people anywhere and anytime. ”
