In preparation for the Eid-el-Maulud celebrations, Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun has assured Nigerians of heightened security measures to ensure a peaceful festive period.
The IGP announced that Command Commissioners of Police and Zonal Assistant Inspectors-General of Police have been instructed to implement comprehensive security strategies.
These measures include increased patrols on major highways, enhanced security at places of worship, and vigilant monitoring of public gathering spots to safeguard citizens.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by Force Public Relations Officer Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Nigeria Police Force has strategically deployed personnel and resources across the nation to preempt any potential security threats.
“The Nigeria Police Force has deployed adequate personnel and resources to strategic locations across the country,” the statement reads.
“This deployment is aimed at preventing any security threats and ensuring the safety of all citizens as they celebrate this sacred occasion.”
The statement further emphasized the Force’s commitment to public safety, stating, “We remain dedicated to safeguarding the public and preventing crime, both during and after this festive period.”
IGP Egbetokun extended his best wishes to Muslims across the country, hoping for a joyful and serene celebration.
He also highlighted the importance of collaboration with other security agencies, community leaders, and key stakeholders to achieve a secure and incident-free Eid-el-Maulud.
“We are working closely with sister security agencies, community leaders, and relevant stakeholders to ensure a seamless and secure celebration across the nation,” the IGP said.
