The Oyo State House of Assembly has urged Governor Seyi Makinde to reconsider the demolition of houses in the Fasade, Egbeda area of the state.
The House made the call in reaction to matter of urgent public importance, moved by Honourable Olajide Akintunde, during plenary presided over by deputy speaker, Mohammed Fadeyi.
After presenting the matter for deliberation, Hon. Olajide said though notifications had earlier been issued to affected house owners, there was still need for the assembly to interface between members of the communities and the executive which had been done through the motion.
Addressing newsmen shortly after plenary, Hon. Olajide clarified that the assembly’s plea did not by anyway contradict the ongoing project but was concerned by the yearnings and pains of the people, describing governor Makinde as a listening governor.
Some of the lawmakers including Hon. Adeola Bamidele and Hon. Sunkanmi Babalola appealed to governor Makinde to look into the 500 meters earmarked for setback at the Rashidi Ladoja Circular road to ease the pains of the people.
It would be recalled that the Oyo State Government in an effort to ensure the 500 meters acquired for setback was cleared, began the demolition of structures built close to the Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road on Tuesday, affecting about 12 communities in the Ona-Ara Local Government Area of the state
