French police have reportedly arrested over 400 people during protests against French President Emmanuel Macron’s pensions reform.
According to Al Jazeera, this was disclosed by the French Interior Minister, Gerald Darmanin.
“There were a lot of demonstrations and some of them turned violent, notably in Paris,” Darmanin said on Friday morning.
“But there were some incidents of serious violence in Paris, where police and some protesters clashed,” she added. “There were scenes of virtual chaos.
It’s gathered that more than a million people took to the streets across France on Thursday, with 119,000 in Paris, to protest the legislation raising the retirement age by two years to 64.
Also, unions have called for further protests next Tuesday, which would coincide with King Charles III’s state visit to the country.
Meanwhile it has been reported that King Charles III has postponed his trip to France in the light of the ongoing protest in the country.
