The Defence Headquarters has reported that the military personnel have killed 53 terrorists and other criminals in recent operations in the North-east, North-central, and North-west.
The News Agency of Nigeria reported that the Defence Media Operations Director, Major General Musa Danmadami made this statement on Thursday in Abuja during the twice-weekly news conference on military operations.
According to Mr. Danmadami, the military also captured 59 terrorists, kidnappers, and members of their support networks within the time frame, freeing 118 victims who had been kidnapped throughout the operation’s theatres.
He claimed that Operation Hadin Kai forces continued their offensive operation against Boko Haram and the Islamic State of West Africa Province terrorists in the region’s northeast.
According to Mr. Danmadami, the offensive resulted in the death of 29 terrorists, the capture of 20 others, and the rescue of 54 victims who managed to flee the terrorists.
He also added that 77 adult males, 364 adult females, and 533 children, totaling 974 terrorists, also surrendered to troops at various sites during the time.
He claimed that soldiers found 14 AK-47 rifles, two NSVT rifles, three PKT MG rifles, three gun trucks, 188 rounds of 7.62 x 54mm ammunition, 142 rounds of 12.7x108mm ammunition, 110 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 27 cartridges, 18 dane rifles, 17 AK-47 magazines, and wires for improvised explosive devices.
Additional goods found in the area include three pairs of Boko Haram uniforms, a spade, bags of various foods, boxes of spaghetti, medical supplies, solar panels, 12 motorcycles, 13 bicycles, mobile phones, a boafeng radio, pouches, one vehicle, and N2.3 million in cash.
According to him, “equally, the rescued terrorists escapees and members of their families were profiled and provided medical assistance, while the surrendered terrorists and members of their families are also being profiled for further action.”
The spokesperson for the defense claimed that the air component carried out a number of air interdiction operations on terrorist enclaves and logistics, eliminating numerous terrorists and destroying their infrastructure.
He claimed that in the North-central, the forces of Operations Whirl Stroke and Safe Haven detained 21 kidnapped victims, nine suspected kidnappers, and nine other offenders.
He claims that among the things found were two AK-47 rifles, two handguns, two pistol rounds, machetes, four ATM cards, five SIM cards, mobile phones, and various other things.
In various operations over the course of the period, according to Mr. Danmadami, the Operation Hadarin Daji forces in the North-West neutralized 24 terrorists, detained 19 suspected criminals, and freed 43 kidnapped citizens.
According to him, the forces found 28 rounds of 7.62mm special, 14 Dane guns, 10 AK-47 rifles, nine AK-47 magazines, six motorcycles, radios, and 76 livestock that had been stolen.
He said that the appropriate authorities received all confiscated items, detained suspects, and rescued citizens for further action.
The air component of Operation Hadarin Daji, he said, carried out several air interdiction missions targeting a known terrorist stronghold at Mai Solar in the Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara, where the airstrike claimed the lives of several terrorists.
