Popular Nigerian actor, Yul Chibuike Daniel Edochie, popularly known as Yul Edochie, has confirmed that he invented the now popular and trending ‘No gree for anybody’ slogan in the new year.
The thespian, who has been in the news lately over his marital challenges, confirmed that he brought up the viral slogan at the start of the year.
Yul Edochie declared that he deserved some credit over the slogan as investigations showed that it came from a post he made on December 29, 2023 on Instagram and Facebook.
“People have been telling me that it was Yul Edochie who started the slogan ‘NO GREE FOR ANYBODY’. They said it came from a post I made on 29th of December, 2023 on Instagram and Facebook, from there it went viral.
“I have investigated the matter. It seems to be true oo. So make una dey give me my credit oo,” he wrote.
The Nigerian Police Force had strong disapproved the use of the popular slang, ‘no go gree for anybody’, by youths and citizens across the country.
The police, through its spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, during a chat with newsmen warned that it could clamp down on people using the slang.
Adejobi revealed that the police had received intelligence suggesting that the slogan had the potential to incite a revolution within the country.
He said, “Let me say that the new slogan for 2023, 2024 for our young ones is ‘no go gree for anybody.’
“We have been informed from our intelligence that this slogan is coming from a revolutionary sector that may likely cause problem across the country.
“No go gree for anybody’ is being seen as just a normal talk, but in security business, in the security community, we have seen it as a very dangerous slogan that can trigger crisis.”
