The Israeli army has revealed that the majority of the 200 who were kidnapped by Hamas militants in Israel and taken to the Gaza Strip are, according to their latest statement, still alive.
“The majority of the hostages are alive. There were also dead bodies that were taken… to the Gaza Strip,” an army statement said.
According to the military, between 10 and 20 of the hostages were over 60 years old, while more than 20 of them were young individuals.
The IDF also stated that since the Hamas attacks, 100 to 200 persons are believed to remain missing.
More than 1,400 people were killed in the greatest attack on Israel in its 75-year history on October 7, according to Israeli officials.
Most of the victims were civilians who were shot, tortured, or burned to death on the first day of the operation.
According to the Hamas-run health ministry in the region, Israel’s retaliatory assault has resulted in at least 3,785 deaths in the Gaza Strip, predominantly civilians.
