Herdsmen have reportedly invaded Ijagba, Imoru, and Arimogija communities in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo.
According to Tribune, it was gathered that the herdsmen destroyed farms, while also kidnapping residents for ransom.
Residents of the communities have pleaded with the government to come to their aid as they claimed that tye herdsmen attacks in the communities are becoming worrisome.
After driving farmers from their farms, the gunmen visited numerous residences and kidnapped people for ransom, according to Ibrahim, a local source.
The state government, he claimed, has received letters pleading for help, stating that marauders have been harassing the locals for more than two weeks, killing, maiming, and destroying assets worth millions of naira.
Another resident, Madam Agnes Johnson, stated that the herders had a history of destroying farmlands and crops such as yam, maize, cassava, and other farm items.
She stated that herders, who routinely kidnap residents for ransom, have also advised them not to approach their fields and local plantation.
“They moved into a house and kidnapped a young girl some few hours after they released a man from the same community who was in their captive.
They released the man after collecting ransom which was negotiated from N10m to one million naira,” he added.
When contacted, the Police spokesperson in Ondo state, Funmi Odunlami said the command has not been briefed about the incident.
She did, however, reassure them that law enforcement officers will be sent out to villages to have a better handle on the situation there.
