The Federal Government has allocated 740 rice trucks to Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Each state, including the FCT, received 20 trucks, each containing 1,200 bags of 25kg rice.
The distribution is intended for the society’s most vulnerable members.
During a briefing with State House correspondents, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, revealed this after the Federal Executive Council meeting, chaired by President Bola Tinubu at the Council Chamber, Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Accompanied by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Idris stated that the President has instructed the Minister of Agriculture to ensure food availability for Nigerians.
He further explained that the rice distribution aims to alleviate the country’s hardship, emphasizing that state governors are expected to distribute the rice to the most vulnerable populations.
