The Federal Capital Territory Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced plans to distribute travel materials to intending Hajj pilgrims this weekend during the second phase of its education and orientation program.
The exercise will take place at the permanent Hajj camp in Bassan Jiwa, near Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, on Saturday and Sunday.
According to the board’s Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Lawal, the materials have been secured to ensure pilgrims are well-prepared for the spiritual journey to Saudi Arabia.
“The items to be distributed include uniforms, literature, and audio materials that will help the intending pilgrims continue learning about Hajj rites during the holy month of Ramadan,” Lawal stated.
He further noted that all activities for the pilgrims would be suspended during Ramadan to allow them to focus on religious observances in their respective locations. Full preparations for the pilgrimage will resume after the fasting period.
“The board is committed to ensuring that intending pilgrims gain a thorough understanding of Hajj performance so they get value for the money paid for this significant religious obligation,” he added.
As part of the orientation, Islamic scholars will conduct training sessions in seven different languages to accommodate the diverse population of the FCT.
The sessions, which will begin at 8 a.m. each day, aim to educate pilgrims on Hajj rites and update them on new policies introduced by the Saudi authorities and the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria.
Lawal also urged intending pilgrims who have not yet submitted their completed application forms or international passports to do so promptly.
“This will enable the board to fast-track the processing of their travel documents before their departure to Saudi Arabia,” he said.
The orientation program is part of ongoing efforts to ensure that all pilgrims are adequately prepared for the Hajj pilgrimage, a sacred journey for Muslims worldwide.
