An Anglican priest serving as the Archdeacon of Oyi Central Archdeaconry and Vicar of St. James’ Parish in Awkuzu, Anambra State, Ven David Arinze Ajaefobi, was reportedly kidnapped by unknown individuals on Saturday evening.
The alleged abduction occurred around 9:00 PM at the entrance gate of St. James’ Parish, situated in Oyi Local Government Area.
According a source, the kidnappers have yet to establish contact with the priest’s family, leaving his loved ones in distress and awaiting word.
The source added, “The abduction occurred around 9:00 PM on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the entrance gate of St James’ Parish, Awkuzu, in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State.”
The church community has since called for continuous prayer sessions, urging parishioners to seek divine intervention for the priest’s safe return.
When contacted regarding the incident, Anambra State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that the police had not yet received any formal report on the matter, highlighting the urgency for any available information to aid their response to this unsettling development.
