Gunmen suspected to be bandits have kidnapped a spare parts dealer at Tambuwal Motor Park in the Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The State Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Ahmed Rufa’i, who confirmed the incident disclosed that the police were on the trail of the gunmen.
The incident was said to have occurred around 8pm on Saturday.
Tambuwal is the town of the immediate past Governor of the state, now Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.
A source explained that the gunmen shot sporadically in the air, thereby making residents of the community to run for safety.
He said, “The bandits injured one other person who is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.”
The source stated further that the gunmen’s mission was to kidnap the father of the trader who was not around at the time of their attack.
He ssid that the kidnappers went away with the man’s son.
Speaking, the PPRO said that Tambuwal is a transit town between Sokoto and Kebbi State, adding that they have informed police in the neighboring communities in Kebbi as the search continues.
