The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of one person at the settlement of Fulani herdsmen in Ila Local Government Area of Osun State on Wednesday.
It was gathered that about eight gunmen arrived at the settlement named Ago Igbira in the early hours of Wednesday and started shooting sporadically to create fear.
It was said that one of the residents Jubril was hit by a bullet stray during the operation.
A source in the settlement confirmed the gunmen attempted to kidnap as many people but only succeeded leaving with one Mohammed to an unknown location.
The source disclosed that “those gunmen are Bororo because of the language they are speaking and appearance.”
The Osun Police Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed that the Seriki of Fulani, Mohammed Kajibo reported that gunmen attacked his settlement, Ago Igbira around 12 am on Wednesday to kidnap a 30-year-old, Mohammed Jubril while they shot one Hassan Jubril.
“Police in collaboration with Civilian Joint Taskforce (CJF) swung into action, combed the whole area, three expended shells of AK47 rifle and cartridges were recovered from the scene.
“The combined teams of Police and CJF are combing the bush to rescue the victim and arrest the perpetrators,” she said.
