Some yet-to-be-identified gunmen have abducted an Islamic cleric, Alfa Fasasi Ola Mejabi, and his younger brother in Kogi State.
According to The PUNCH, the incident took place while they were transporting the body of the Chief Imam of Ayegunle Gbede, Sheikh Musa Olorunkemi, for burial.
A victim who escaped the incident stated that the abduction occurred at Oshokoshoko, along the Lokoja-Obajana-Kabba road.
The kidnappers are reportedly demanding a N10 million ransom for their release.
Since the abduction, the victims’ phone lines have been switched off, according to reports.
The State Security Adviser, Commodore Jerry Omadara, confirmed the incident and stated that security agencies are actively working to secure their release.
“It is true but the security operatives were on their trail in a bid to rescue them and arrest the kidnappers,” he confirmed.
