Ilkay Gundogan is reportedly weighing his options ahead of a potential departure from Barcelona, with speculation suggesting a return to the Premier League could be on the horizon.
Reports surfaced on Saturday indicating that Gundogan, who joined Barcelona on a free transfer from Manchester City just a year ago, has expressed a desire to leave the club this summer.
Despite missing the recent 2-1 victory over Valencia due to a suspected head injury, Barcelona’s manager Hansi Flick spoke positively about the situation.
He mentioned having a conversation with the 33-year-old midfielder and expressed confidence that Gundogan would remain with the team beyond the summer transfer window.
Nevertheless, according to The Athletic, Gundogan is open to exploring opportunities elsewhere.
Several clubs from Turkey, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, who have long been interested in securing the midfielder’s services, are reportedly keeping a close eye on his situation.
Additionally, there is said to be interest from the Premier League, where Gundogan previously enjoyed a successful seven-year stint with Manchester City after transferring from Borussia Dortmund.
