At least four people, including a minor, have been confirmed dead in a road accident on the Sagamu-Ikorodu route, Ogun State.
The Spokesperson for the State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Florence Okpe, who disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, reported that a total of eight individuals were involved in the incident.
The collision occurred at 12:40 pm on Sunday and involved a wine-colored Toyota Sienna (registration number LND945EL) and a white convoy bus, registration number AKD232XV.
The accident was attributed to overspeeding and wrongful overtaking, which resulted in a rear-end collision between the two vehicles.
“The crash involved 2 (two) vehicles with the following details; Wine Toyota Sienna with registration number LND945EL and White Convoy Bus with registration number AKD232XV.
“Eight people were involved in the crash. 6 Male Adults, 1 Female Adult and 1 Female Child
“A total of 4 people were killed , 2 Male Adults, 1 Female Adult and 1 Female Child while 04 Male Adults were injured,” the statement said.
Okpe mentioned that the FRSC Mosimi Unit Command conducted a rescue operation, transporting the injured to Dasochris Hospital in Gbaga, Ogijo. The families of the deceased took custody of the bodies.
Sector Commander Anthony Uga extended his condolences to the families of the victims. He emphasized the importance of avoiding overspeeding and maintaining full attention while driving.
Uga also urged drivers to strictly follow road markings and regulations concerning overtaking.
