The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps for Ebonyi State, Mr. Igwe Nnabuife, noted that the incident took place on Thursday night near the G-Hostel junction.
Nnabuife shared details of the crash, revealing that a white Hummer bus, registered as LSR 823 YJ, was involved.

The impact caused the bus to catch fire, resulting in extensive damage.
“The commercial bus was carrying 16 passengers; nine of them were injured while five died,” Nnabuife stated.
The nine injured passengers have been taken to the Alex-Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital in Abakaliki, where they are currently receiving treatment and are reported to be responding positively.
The remains of the deceased have been transferred to the hospital’s morgue after being confirmed dead by medical personnel.
