A one-storey building, in Udensi Street, Abakaliki metropolis, has been razed by fire.
According to The PUNCH, the fire which started about 1.30 pm, on Friday, has left many residents of the affected building homeless.
An intermittent increase in the voltage of the local power grid between 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Friday was reportedly the cause of the incident.
According to one of the burned-out property’s tenants, Mr. Onuigbo, he stated that the intensity of the fire made it difficult for him to remove any of his belongings from the structure.
The incident has been confirmed by the Controller of the Ebonyi State Fire Service, Ibiam Raphael, who said work was still ongoing to extinguish the fire.
