Popular Araromi spare parts market in Ibadan Oyo State was raised by fire early hour of today.
The fire which started around 2: am on Saturday morning was said to have affected about forty five shops within the market.
The General Manager of the state fire service, Rev. Canon Yemi Akinyinka, while confirming the incident to the newsmen today, noted that the command received a distress call about the incident and deploy her men to the scene immediately and the fire was quenched around 5: am this morning.
According to Adeyinka, “Our men are at Araromi Market Agodi Gate since 2:30am where they are putting of the fire caused by indiscriminate refuse burning.
“The fire was suppressed at 5:00am. Cooling down operation is ongoing to suppress recognition. On my way for on the spot assessment.
“I cannot say specifically the number of shops now, you know it is an emergency. It started in the night. About 45 shops.”
It would be recalled that a similar incident happened in Ibadan about some weeks ago, when a tanker lost control and burst into flames.
