The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Dangiwa has asserted that plans are place to reform housing scheme in order to provide affordable house for citizens.
According to Daily Post, Dangiwa disclosed this while speaking at a dinner organised in his honour by Housing Development Advocacy Network in Abuja on Saturday, emphasizing that all Nigerians deserved access to decent, quality and affordable housing.
The Minister said as housing industry stakeholders, it was up to them in their various capacities to devise a better way of doing things and join hands towards breaking all the systemic barriers.
He said, “I have been meeting with senior staff and heads of agencies under the ministry with a view to unveiling a Strategic Housing and Urban Development Blueprint, which will contain details of our priorities, initiatives, reforms, and plans.”
Dangiwa disclosed that the responsibility of the ministry was to create an enabling environment that would encourage private sector investment and formulate policies that would empower agencies under his supervision to carry out thier assignments effectively.
The Minister who also an environment expert, disclosed that he understood all the challenges in the sector, stressing that he was determined to fix them, leveraging on the support, expertise and knowledge of industry stakeholders.
The stakeholders in the sector pledged their support to the minister.
