A tragic incident occurred in Niger State where a farm manager was killed and three others were kidnapped during a violent raid by suspected hoodlums on two farms in the Sabon-Wuse area of Tafa Local Government Area.
According to The PUNCH, the farm manager, whose identity has yet to be disclosed, reportedly confronted the armed attackers, resulting in his fatal shooting.
The Commander of the Security Vigilante in Tafa community, Hussaini Abubakar confirmed the incident, stating, “The manager was among those who tried to confront the gunmen, but he was shot dead in the process.”
The assailants initially abducted three individuals before shooting the manager, Abubakar explained. Notably, the attackers did not steal any cattle during the operation.
The Niger State Police Command also confirmed the incident through its spokesperson, Wasiu Abiodun. According to him, the police received a report of the attack in the early hours of August 11, 2024.
“On 11/8/2024 at about 0100 hrs, information was received that suspected armed men attacked a residence at Angwan-Aso, near Sabon-Wuse,” Abiodun stated.
He added that the police patrol team from the Sabon-Wuse Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer responded swiftly to the scene. However, the hoodlums had already fled with the victims.
Abiodun also revealed that the attackers shot a security guard attached to a nearby poultry farm. The injured guard was rushed to Umaru Musa Yar’adua Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
