Aston Villa have officially announced the acquisition of Belgian midfielder Amadou Onana from Everton.
The £50 million deal brings Onana to Villa Park from fellow Premier League side Everton.
The 22-year-old, who joined Goodison Park two years ago, has drawn interest from Arsenal, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain with his performances.
However, Villa emerged victorious in securing the deep-lying midfielder.
Onana’s arrival signals Villa’s ambitious intentions in the transfer market. He joins a host of new signings including Ross Barkley, Ian Maatsen, Jaden Philogene, Samuel Iling-Junior, Cameron Archer, and Enzo Barrenechea, as manager Unai Emery builds a squad capable of competing in the Champions League.
Over the past two years, Onana has proven himself to be one of the top players in his position and played every minute for Belgium during their Euro 2024 campaign.
Villa’s activity in the transfer window appears far from over, with reports suggesting a potential surprise move for Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix.
The team is set to embark on their pre-season tour of the United States, where they will face Columbus Crew, RB Leipzig, and Liga MX champions Club America.
