Liverpool faced their second defeat of the season in Toulouse, losing 3-2 after a VAR review overturned a stoppage-time equalizer.
Toulouse, recently in the French second tier, took the lead with Aron Donnum capitalizing on a Kostas Tsimikas error.
Thijs Dallinga doubled the lead, and despite a bizarre own goal, Toulouse maintained momentum with a 3-1 lead.
Liverpool’s substitute Frank Magri scored two minutes later. Diogo Jota’s 89th-minute goal set up a tense finish, and Jarell Quansah’s apparent equalizer was disallowed by VAR due to an Alexis Mac Allister handball in the extended build-up.
Liverpool remains atop Europa League Group E with nine points, while Toulouse is two points behind in second place.
