Feyenoord continued their winning streak under Robin van Persie, securing a 3-2 victory over Go Ahead Eagles at De Kuip.
This marks the former Arsenal and Manchester United forward’s second consecutive league win since taking charge.
Go Ahead Eagles became the second top-seven Eredivisie side to fall to Feyenoord in as many matches.
Before the international break, Van Persie’s men dismantled FC Twente 6-2, sealing his first league triumph as manager.
The visitors showed early intent, creating two promising opportunities within the opening 15 minutes. However, both Enric Llansana and Mathis Suray failed to get past Timon Wellenreuther in goal.
Feyenoord capitalized on an error half an hour into the game when Indonesian defender Dean James brought down Anis Hadj Moussa inside the penalty area.
Former Brighton midfielder Jakub Moder stepped up and confidently dispatched the spot-kick into the top left corner, putting the hosts ahead.
However, their advantage was short-lived. Just before halftime, Milan Smit showcased his vision, setting up Victor Edvardsen, who found the equalizer in stoppage time.
Feyenoord had a golden opportunity to reclaim the lead early in the second half when Julian Carranza, starting in place of the injured Ayase Ueda, struck the post with a powerful attempt.
Ten minutes later, Algerian international Hadj Moussa made no mistake where Carranza had, curling a precise shot past Go Ahead Eagles goalkeeper Jari de Busser to restore Feyenoord’s lead at 2-1.
The visitors responded swiftly, with Finnish playmaker Oliver Antman finishing off a well-worked move to level the score once again.
Sensing an opportunity to close the gap on PSV and further pull away from FC Twente, Feyenoord pushed forward in search of a decisive goal.
Brazilian sensation Igor Paixao, who had been instrumental in the 6-2 win over Twente, delivered once again. With 15 minutes left on the clock, he rifled home from inside the box, sending the De Kuip faithful into a frenzy.
Despite late pressure from Go Ahead Eagles, Feyenoord held firm to claim all three points, making it a memorable first home win for Van Persie as head coach.
The result sees Feyenoord cut PSV’s lead to eight points while also widening the gap between themselves and fifth-placed Twente.
Next up, they face FC Groningen on Wednesday, with a chance to leapfrog FC Utrecht into third place.
