Liverpool’s Diogo Jota scored a dramatic late equalizer to rescue a thrilling 2-2 draw against Fulham in a pulsating Premier League clash at Anfield on Saturday.
Despite being reduced to 10 men, the Reds twice came from behind to maintain their unbeaten run under Arne Slot.
The result keeps Liverpool atop the table with 36 points and a game in hand, following the postponement of last weekend’s Merseyside derby against Everton.
Fulham took an early lead in the 11th minute when Andreas Pereira acrobatically volleyed home Antonee Robinson’s cross, which deflected off Andy Robertson’s thigh before beating Alisson.
Liverpool’s problems worsened six minutes later as Robertson was sent off for a reckless challenge on Harry Wilson, denying the Fulham winger a clear goal-scoring opportunity.
After the break, Liverpool found a way back through Cody Gakpo, who connected with Mohamed Salah’s exquisite cross to score with a diving header in the 47th minute.
Fulham responded in the 76th minute, with Rodrigo Muniz bundling in Robinson’s delivery while colliding with Alisson to restore the visitors’ lead.
However, Liverpool’s relentless pressure paid off in the 86th minute when Jota coolly slotted past Bernd Leno, ensuring Slot’s side avoided what could have been only his second defeat in 23 games in all competitions as Liverpool manager.
